About the RIT School of Communication

The School of Communication prepares students for careers in a diverse range of communication fields by providing an education with a solid theoretical grounding and an applied, practical focus.  With small classes, award-winning faculty, and paid professional work through our cooperative education program, the Communication experience at RIT is your bridge to a successful future.

We are home to three B.S. degree programs—Communication, Advertising & Public Relations, and Journalism—an M.S. degree in Communication & Media Technologies, and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Communication & Digital Media.  There are 19 full-time faculty members, including the William A. Kern Professor in Communications, supported by two staff assistants and several student workers.

In addition to its degrees, the School offers minors and three-class Immersions in each of its undergraduate areas.  RIT students also select our courses as general education electives.
