Alumni story: Fuad ‘Fuji’ Panjali, RIT, '14
Fuad ‘Fuji’ Panjali is a 2014 graduate of RIT who works as a videographer and photographer for Datto Inc., a data protection services company with offices in Connecticut, Boston and Rochester.
Fuji started in the Advertising and Public Relations program in RIT's School of Communication before switching to the Multidisciplinary Studies program (now the School of Individualized Study) so he could pursue more classes in digital marketing, web design and photography – classes he felt were even more relevant to his planned career path. He did this because, he says, “I wanted to be a jack of all trades.”
He recalls having “awesome teachers” in the School of Communication and he encourages students to take advantage of their knowledge. “Ask your teachers as many questions as you can,” he says. “Bother the hell out of them.” SoC teachers know “so much more than you think they do” and students will realize this as soon as they go on their first internships or co-op, Fuji says.
The interview was conducted at the Datto office in Boston on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 by Mike Johansson, Senior Lecturer in the School of Communication.
